A Special Visit: Mayor of Walsall Explores West Midlands House

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Mayor of Walsall, Cllr Louise Harrison to West Midlands House recently for what turned out to be a truly memorable visit celebrating our community, heritage and the vibrant businesses that call our workspace home.

A Warm Welcome and Guided Tour

Our Centre Manager, Jeni Sellick, had the pleasure of personally welcoming the Mayor and conducting a comprehensive tour of our facility. It was wonderful to share the story of our beautifully designed building and show off the spaces where so many local businesses are thriving and growing.

During our tour, we had some fascinating conversations about Willenhall’s distinguished lock manufacturing heritage – something that’s incredibly close to our hearts here at West Midlands House. Our roots are firmly planted in this community, and we’re proud to be part of continuing that legacy of industry and innovation in the Black Country.

The Mayor’s Impressions

We were thrilled when Mayor Harrison shared her thoughts about the visit saying she was amazed at how beautiful the interior design was and how it celebrated it’s lock factory history.

As this was her first visit to West Midlands House, it was particularly special to see her genuine surprise and appreciation for what we’ve created here.

Meeting Our Team and Community

The visit included an elegant reception with canapés and drinks, which provided the perfect opportunity for Jeni to introduce our dedicated team. She outlined everyone’s roles and how they work together to support our workspace community.

Our resident businesses also had the chance to meet the Mayor, showcasing the diverse and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit that makes West Midlands House such a special place. These conversations highlighted exactly why we do what we do – supporting local businesses and connections within our community.

Celebrating Leadership and Values

During the event, Jeni had the opportunity to congratulate Mayor Harrison, recognising her as “a true woman of leadership who inspires others to embrace the values of the Black Country.” The Mayor’s visit perfectly demonstrated the importance of supporting local business communities while maintaining our strong industrial heritage.

Looking Forward

This visit reinforced something we’ve always believed in – the power of strong partnerships between local authorities and the business community. Together, we’re committed to economic growth and community development across Willenhall and the wide Black Country.

West Midlands House will continue to serve as a hub for innovation and collaboration, providing flexible workspace solutions while celebrating the rich manufacturing heritage that has shaped Willenhall for generations.

Thank you to Mayor Harrison for taking the time to visit, and to everyone who made this such a special occasion. Here’s to continuing to build a thriving a business community rooted in the values and heritage of Willenhall!
